Eat healthy at this Great new Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg area Restaurant!

July 27

We got quite a surprise at the office a few days ago when a guy walked in with a bag. What was in that bag???

Some of the freshest, best tasting food I have ever had! Out promoting his relatively, new, healthy place to eat by giving away delicious samples of his tasty items! I’m not talking a little piece of cheese on a toothpick either, these were complete, freshly made meals!

It’s rare to see new businesses doing everything right but I must hand it to “Healthy Balance” because I like this guy’s ideas a lot!

Basically, they look for the best places to buy the freshest, locally grown produce and as far as I can tell carefully choose everything down to the pine nuts! I’m not kidding, I have never written a restaurant review before but I was so impressed with this entire operation that I felt compelled to pass on my new find.

If  you are visiting or living in Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge or Sevierville and want something good to eat that’s also good for you do yourself a favor and try this place.

They are located (I still have the brochure he left in front of me) at 1223 Ridge Rd. in Sevierville, Tn. but you don’t have to find them they will bring it to you! Also, (this is awesome) you can buy “Super Packages”  that keeps you eating healthy for 2 weeks or longer. They will let you know precisely what you are getting in each meal including; calories, carbs, proteins and a fat count so this is the perfect way to start a new diet!  The average meal is 300 calories or less and I’m telling you, absolutely delicious!

I  have no stake in this company at all but if I did have money I would invest in a franchise just like this. This operation could easily go nation wide and be franchised out if everyone took as much care in their product as this person does.

Go check their menu out and learn more and lets go on a diet together (I really am!).

Great healthy place to eat.

As far as I’m concerned, when I am out having fun I want to get the most for my money at all times  and I prefer outdoor fun because most of my time is spent indoors working. One of my favorite thing to do is visit the riding stables around Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge and Sevierville and now I have anew favorite activity with all the Smoky Mountain ziplines to choose from. This is a real fun thing to do if you’ve necer tried it! I was a little reluctant at first but after watching others zipping down through the trees I just had to try it and I’m glad I did. They gave us a briefing on the ground, made sure our harnesses were good to go and before I knew it I was among those that can say they took a zipline tour!

Well here are the printable Pigeon Forge coupons that can save you money in Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg and Sevierville on; go karts, lasertag, minigolf, ice cream 4D theaters, ziplines and horseback riding. Dollywood gets a new competitor; Pigeon Forge Zipline

July 3

Of course Dollywood is fun, there is no doubt about that but, there are other things to do in Pigeon Forge and the list just got bigger!  A new Pigeon Forge Zipline attraction called Adventure Ziplines of Sevierville just opened their doors to the public and it looks like it’s going to be a sweet success!

Location, location, location is the key to any new business and it’s ability to compete and the spot this new Pigeon Forge zipline is in could not be better. Directly across from Tanger Outlet Center at Five Oaks, it’s quite a site to look up and see happy people zipping along a cable . Their first day of operation was on Tuesday, June 29th and though they are still tweaking the landscape , this new adventure park is certainly ready to show folks visiting the Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge and Sevierville area a good time!

With 6 towers that begin in the hills surrounding the Parkway and end up right at the Parkway, this new zipline will definitely attract a lot of attention as well as visitors. I haven’t had a chance to take the tour yet but it won’t be long because that final line that heads towards Five Oaks Tanger Outlet Center looks like some extreme fun!

I think I’m going right now! Have a great day I’m outta here!   ;)

Cabin and chalet decor in the Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg area

June 3

If you own or perhaps rent a cabin or chalet in Pigeon Forge or Gatlinburg, you might want to try the rustic look that only chainsaw carvings can give. Local chainsaw carver, “tBone” has a brand new website called; “Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge Chainsaw Carvings Great for Cabin Decor”. it’s not really a website where you can order or buy things right online, nope, but you can drive just several miles out of Gatlinburg towards Cosby and you will see his display in a sharp curve, on the left.
It was for many years, the old Austin Green General store and since Austin has retired from the retail market, “tBone” has set up shop there. His carvings are great gifts because they are “one of a kind” , each and every one of them. I did a previous article about him last week and he was kind enough to give me a carving so I wanted to pay him back by building a little place on the web to view some of his work.
There are so many ways to use chainsaw art besides cabin and chalet decor, I won’t even attempt to list them all, but my neighbor down the road has a magnificent bear sculpture in the midst of his flower garden. His garden has an outcropping of slate as backdrop and the bear just looks like he belongs there.
Well tBone, (Tim), I hope this site I built does you some good and gets you some visitors this year, the economy is looking better than last year and I think people are ready to break away for a while. I got a feeling many of them will be visiting Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge and this will be good for all our neighbors.
For the visitors to my blog, be looking for my next article on all the new things to do in Pigeon Forge. Till then….See ya later!

Gatlinburg Chainsaw Carver “Tbone” “Free things to do in Gatlinburg”

May 23

TBone is the way he signs all his bear chainsaw carvings, eagles and other wildlife. For over 10 years now as you made your way from Cosby to Gatlinburg, you have probably seen Tim Hamilton’s work in Pittman Center, on a curve about 7 miles before Gatlinburg. His chainsaw art is probably by now, in all 50 states!

His chainsaw carvings are carved out of cedar, walnut, oak and other trees indigenous to the Great Smoky Mountains. You can stop by and watch if you want some day. It’s one of the only  free things to do in Gatlinburg so why not make watching this artist at work part of your next trip to Gatlinburg.

This ex Marine, now ,Gatlinburg chainsaw carver used to sell driftwood with his brother Jim before setting out to do something different after 23 years! You might have seen them on any number of lakes including Douglas, Holston,Fontana  and Laurel river Lake in Kentucky. Their boat, he says, “would be piled so high” with the beautiful natural driftwood that on more than one occasion the boat as he put it “sank!” I asked him “where did you sell that many boat loads of driftwood over a 23 year span”? He replied with a question “why, do you want to buy some”? The answer, I later found out, was he and his brother began by mounting the driftwood to wooden bases and selling it to florists who would then, decorate it with silk and dried flowers. Later, the two of them found the pet shop  market was a more  lucrative outlet for their product and Tbone added, “many pieces are probably still in aquariums till this day”.

I found his story to be quite unique, and I imagined for a moment, what it must have been like to make your living, your entire life, from things in nature most people only see as wood. When Tbone looks at wood he sees art, sometimes there to begin with and sometimes just waiting to happen. I enjoyed my time talking with this Gatlinburg chainsaw carver and plan to return very soon.

As I started to leave, he said “wait” and walked towards the bear chainsaw carving he had just finished, picked it up and said “I want you to have this”.  I humbly accepted and told him I had just the place for it in my Pigeon Forge Cabin. The rustic black bear now greets everyone entering my home with a sign that sums up how Tbone made me feel, “WELCOME”.

My Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg attractions

May 20

Constantly searching the web for what’s going on in and around Pigeon Forge sometimes I stumble upon some interesting stuff. It seems yet another directory of attractions has hit the world wide web. It looks very nice and as though someone has put a lot of work into it.

I didn’t realize we were getting a new Pigeon Forge zipline, well actually it’s on the border of Pigeon Forge and Sevierville at the Five Oaks Riding Stables  location. Called Adventure Ziplines of Sevierville this looks like it’s going to be a pretty big deal. Offering horseback rides and now zipline rides, this place might just do alright. A lot of the other area zip line places are a little out of town but this one is smack dab in the middle of everything. Just a block from the bustling crowd that convenes on Governors Crossing, this will make ziplining in the Gatlinburg area convenient for our visitors to the Smokies.

If you get a chance and have the desire to see this new Pigeon Forge Attractions directory, see what you think. Are they going to give myPigeonForge, a long time popular area directory,  a run for their money?

Check back soon as we will all take a closer look at the new Titanic attraction in Pigeon Forge. I sure hope Dolly can compete with all these new family fun places popping up .  ;)

Seeya soon!
