If you happened to be around Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge or Sevierville in March of this year, you might have joined in on the fun at the Corvette Expo held at the Sevierville Convention Center. If you happened to have missed it, not to worry because they are returning!
Coming up on October the 23rd at 10:00 am, Cooper Events and Thompson-Carr Auctions will be having another auction there at the convention center. The promoter of this event, Byron Cooper, says that at least 10 Corvettes will be auctioned off with no reserve price. This could be a great opportunity for anyone that has longed to own one of these legendary automobiles.
For only $10 you can have a day of fun watching these beauties being auctioned off and if you’ve never seen one of their auctions on TV they can be pretty fun. Just to get you excited I’ve posted a video that has pictures of the March, 2010 Corvette Expo held in Sevierville Tn.
While you’re in this area having a good time you might also want to make time to ride the new Sevierville zip line at Adventure Park at Five Oaks across from Tanger Mall at Five Oaks. This is a cool thing to do for people from 3 to 103 and believe me, the older folks are joining in on the fun! There was a lady celebrating her 90th birthday this year at the adventure park and she wasn’t there for the riding stables (which would have been impressive enough) but she actually did the zip line tour!
With spring here and looking good, it’s time to start thinking about horseback riding and riding stables around the Smokies. Maybe you’ve never been, or perhaps it’s been too long since you’ve hit the trails in our beautiful east Tennessee hills. Now would be great time to look around at great options we have in the Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge and Sevierville area when it comes to riding stables.
On your next visit to Pigeon Forge or Gatlinburg you will be greeted with millions of colorful little lights as Winterfest is now under way. From the time you get off the I40 interstate exit until you start up the mountain at the end of Gatlinburg, you will be delighted by the glow of Christmas lights and the familiar scenes of Santa, reindeer and snowmen.
Just because the weather is cooling off and the days aren’t quite as long is no reason to stay home by the furnace! Put a light coat, jacket or sweater on, gather up dad and the kids and come see the beautiful displays in the Smokies. The Sevier county area has really worked hard to make the cities of Sevierville, Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg come to life around Christmas and the hard work has paid off. Winterfest gets bigger and better every year and you should, if possible, plan a trip to this impressive Tennessee county.
Christmas joy is yours to have by just “getting in the spirit” and taking a ride down Dolly Parton Parkway!

In the last post we looked at just a few of the entertainment choices available in Pigeon Forge. To expand further on this today we will take a brief look at “Dixie Stampede”, “The Blackwoods” show and “Country Tonight” theater.
As they say on their website, Dixie Stampede is a “fun-filled, action-packed dinner and show extravaganza” sure to keep many coming back year after year. Dolly Parton keeps proving herself to be a great entrepreneur and her “Dixie Stampede” dinner and show is again proof of this. You will leave there totally satisfied from the wonderfully delicious, large feast of a meal and the well put together, performance of her stable of entertainers!
If you want to listen to some beautiful gospel do not miss the Blackwood’s as they can start your day like nobody else can! From the delicious breakfast that includes mouth-watering , homemade buttermilk biscuits to my favorite, the hashbrown potatoes, this meal is perfect. Then the sounds of melodic voices start filling the Black Bear Jamboree and you see why this show is such a favorite of so many.
Starting it’s 13th season, the award winning Country Tonight Theater is the perfect place for any family or group. Including singers, dancers and comedians, this theater has something for everyone in your group and will be a beautifule, life-long memory for all to keep. Do not however let the name fool you as this fantastic place does not just offer shows at night but in the morning as well with the multi-talented, Patty Waszak show. Year round this awesome theater offers concerts, comedy, songs and the art of dance in this fantastic little place we call Pigeon Forge!

So you and the kids have spent the day at Dollywood an your energy is running low but not theirs…so what do you do? Well there is one activity that has stood the test of time and always seems to be a family favorite; racing go carts! Our area is known for some great go cart action and some excellent fast tracks to maximize the level of fun. As a matter of fact someone recently asked Cha-Cha “Where is the fastest go-kart track in the US?” and the answer they gave was:”Pigeon Forge Tennessee”!
Oh sure they have go carts at Wild Woody and Ober Gatlinburg but if you don’t mind driving a few more miles to Pigeon Forge you will have your choice of many more tracks! StarTracks has a great reputation for speed and a slick track to make those curves a real thrill! They also offer special deals with their “Parkhopper pass” which enables you to ride any of 7 tracks they own throughout Pigeon Forge including:
SpeedZone
LazerPort and
Rockin Raceway
Still not convinced Pigeon Forge is the place for go carts? Well besides all the great tracks above you have even more choices and just by driving up and down the parkway you will find them all!
In the next few days I will do some investigating and find out more about the tracks around Pigeon Forge but in the meantime you have enough go cart tracks to start with and I’m sure you will make everyone happy with some head to head racing in Pigeon Forge!
